You Can Know Of His Power But Never Know His Person

If we really understood the magnitude of glory that His Kingdom brings, the miracle of Christmas wouldn’t be so much about, trees, parties, Santa, gifts and everything else we spend our time getting ready for; Christmas would be more about the person behind the Christmas curtain.

The Old Testament, Exodus 33:18. Moses asks God to “Please show me your Glory (the essence of God, who is He?).” Moses wants to see God!! Even since the time of Moses thousands of years ago people still want to see God.

The single greatest accomplishment of God was sending his son to live as a man so all could SEE God and know Him intimately and personally.

We all desire intimacy - (in-to-me-see ) in our relationships, friendships & marriages. Why not God? If you seek God daily in your life when was it that you switched from knowing about God to knowing God?

Don’t let this New Year start without building intimacy with our God who promises to keep you from stumbling, present you faultless, give you exceeding joy and who alone has more wisdom than anything or anybody of this world.

Don't treat Jesus as a guest this Christmas and don’t be satisfied by only knowing of His power at Christmas time, everyday, I pray, you thirst to know more of His person in 2012. I know I will.

Isaiah 60:5. ... And your heart shall swell with JOY

I pray this prayer for you this Christmas…

Jude :24-25 ..Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless. Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy. To God our Savior, Who alone is wise
      Be glory and majesty,
      Dominion and power
      Both now and forever.
      Amen.

Blessings and Merry Christmas,
Sian

Trouble Is Inevitable- Misery Is Optional

This week was a tough but powerful message. James tells us that we will face trials and that we should count our trials all JOY. Well, of course easy to read in scripture but most difficult to digest as we are going through difficult times in our lives. Why does James say this? Because trouble is the very thing that creates the resolve that builds our faith. We must have unwavering faith that when the devil says checkmate we know our God ALWAYS has the final move.

2 Corinthians 4:1  begins with “we do not lose heart” and ends 4:16 with “therefore we will not lose heart.” It's always too soon to quit trusting and believing and hoping and enduring in the love and promises of the Lord… His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

We have ALL experienced trials in our life, this is inevitable in our fallen world. Weather you are in the midst of a trial or if you are not we will be better people if we know that our PURPOSE is bigger than our PROBLEMS. Our ATTITUDE affects our ALTITUDE. We see this all the time. I work with many people that live with catastrophic disabilities and even though most of us would give them a pass on their attitude they eventually learn that if they look at what they can do instead of what they can’t do they can LIVE once again. I have seen over and over again ventilator quadriplegics finding purpose in their lives and only through the grace of God they see life as a blessing to be lived out to its fullest.

Acts 18:9
9 Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; 10 for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.” 11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

Sometimes scriptures like this can be confusing because God says “no one will attack you or hurt you,” and so many times we are attacked and hurt. Why, when God says this? God is speaking eternally to us. In this scripture the Lord is telling us it is through the teaching of His Word that we cannot be attacked and hurt.
Time is the only thing that separates you from the joy that God promises for your life. FAITH that He will never leave you nor forsake you,
In the end it will be great!

My journey with the Lord this year has been incredible, to say the least. Three years ago I heard God calling me to LA to help my Mom with her company. Each week I traveled on the train to work with people that I have known since High school when my Mom began her mission. Since finding my faith 8 years ago I have prayed for God to show me my purpose in life. God has stripped all the things out of my life that I don’t need nor want and now I can see more clear than ever what His plan for my life is. I have loved my life and I don’t live with any regrets but, I know that if I was just starting my young life, like my children will be doing soon, I can only imagine what my life would have looked like. Notes Of Wisdom has been a wonderful outlet for me to share the messages that God has put onto my heart to share with others. I have discovered I love writing and it’s been such a blessings to see how others have been touched. I got up in the middle of the night a few weeks ago and wrote down the title of a book I would like to write, “A Life Worth Telling” it will be the story of my Mom’s life. My Mom is a woman of faith born by an amazing woman of faith named Annie May, my first daughter’s name. One day that book will be written but, first I am getting ready to launch a life long dream, our foundation, Freedom To Live (FTL). FTL will begin to fill the greatest need for spinal cord injured (SCI) people by providing an affordable and accessible home within the community. The success of FTL‘s mission will prevent SCI individuals from facing life in a nursing home.

As you have noticed my writings have not been so frequent, this is because I am leading our foundation and God has been moving it forward faster and faster. Last December a friend gave a large donation for me to start Freedom To Live and there is no doubt that God’s timing is NOW. So with that said I will not be writing N.O.W. on a regular basis. I’m not to sure what will be next. I just know that God is control of everything and when we ask Him to work in our lives and we listen carefully He has all the answers in His perfect timing.
God bless you and thanks for reading.
Psalm 46
 1 God is our refuge and strength,
         A very present help in trouble.
 2 Therefore we will not fear,
         Even though the earth be removed,
         And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
 3 Though its waters roar and be troubled,
         Though the mountains shake with its swelling.  Selah

 4 There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
         The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
 5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
 God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.
 6 The nations raged, the kingdoms were moved;
         He uttered His voice, the earth melted.

 7 The LORD of hosts is with us;
         The God of Jacob is our refuge.  Selah

 8 Come, behold the works of the LORD,
         Who has made desolations in the earth.
 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
         He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
         He burns the chariot in the fire.

 10 Be still, and know that I am God;
         I will be exalted among the nations,
         I will be exalted in the earth!

 11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
         The God of Jacob is our refuge.

Blessings,
Sian

Creation Vs. Evolution & Age of Earth

It has been a few weeks since I last wrote N.O.W; actually I had a friend email me to ask if she was still on my list because she hadn’t received a N.O.W. lately. I have to admit I felt a little guilty not doing anything I planned when my daughters were away at Forest Home sleepover camp. I spent the entire week cleaning, organizing and seeing friends instead of reading and writing and excising like I had planned.

I have learned over the last few years not only to accept God’s timing for my life but, look forward to waiting for it. Patience is one of the things that came last for me but now that I have it, only through Christ, I find so much PEACE in my life.

The past few weeks I have been praying for God to tell me what to write about next. There have been a few instances that the topics of Creation, Evolution and the age of the earth have come up either talking with Christian friends or watching it on TV. So it is pretty clear that this is God’s answer; Creation vs. Evolution and why Christians should not accept the belief of “millions and million of years.” Many of us have kids beginning their new school years and if your kids go to a public school they are learning that the earth is billions of years old, dinosaurs lived million and million years ago and that life began with single cell organisms, evolved into animals and eventually, through survival of the fittest, we became modern day guys and gals.

Well, I don’t know about you but, when I studied all of that in school, including Sigmund Freud, the id, ego and superego psychology of man, it never made much sense except to learn it for the true or false, multiple choice test that was on Friday.
To be honest I didn’t give much thought to how the world began or how and when we got here until about 2 years ago when Ken Ham, Founder & CEO of Answers In Genesis spoke at our church. He actually gave a 6-part “seminar” over one week.  I was curious about what Ken Ham was going to reveal so I attended the first evening and didn’t miss one after that. I bought a library of book and DVD’s not only for myself but for my children so when they are learning from books at school about all the scientific evidence of “truth” I can show them the other side that they are banned by law not to consider as truth.

Anyway, I know this subject is huge and one or two N.O.W. blogs won’t answer enough questions to change anyone’s mind about the age of the earth. The reason why Creationists like Ken Ham say this subject is so important for Christians today is, because even though Christians believe that God created the world and everything in it, most do not believe that God LITERALLY created the world in 6 days and rested the 7th.  Why?

Ken Ham founded Answers in Genesis to minister to Christians.  The mission of AIG is to: resourcefully equip believers to defend their faith with excellence. If Genesis is not true it negates (according to a non-believer) the validity of every other page in the Bible. It is so important for us as parents because statistics show that over 75% of kids who have been brought up as Christians leave the church during the high school and college years because they can’t defend their faith amongst their friends and teachers. Christians have caved in to accepting that “maybe” when God made the world in 6 days each one of those days must have been thousands or even millions of years a part; why is it ONLY in Genesis when God says a “day” we think He doesn’t mean it literally???

  1. Genesis 1:5
    God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
    Genesis 1:4-6 (in Context) Genesis 1 (Whole Chapter)
  2. Genesis 1:8
    And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
    Genesis 1:7-9 (in Context) Genesis 1 (Whole Chapter)
  3. Genesis 1:13
    So the evening and the morning were the third day.
    Genesis 1:12-14 (in Context) Genesis 1 (Whole Chapter)
  4. Genesis 1:14
    Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide theday from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;
    Genesis 1:13-15 (in Context) Genesis 1 (Whole Chapter)
  5. Genesis 1:16
    Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
    Genesis 1:15-17 (in Context) Genesis 1 (Whole Chapter)
  6. Genesis 1:18
    and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
    Genesis 1:17-19 (in Context) Genesis 1 (Whole Chapter)
  7. Genesis 1:19
    So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
    Genesis 1:18-20 (in Context) Genesis 1 (Whole Chapter)
  8. Genesis 1:23
    So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
    Genesis 1:22-24 (in Context) Genesis 1 (Whole Chapter)
  9. Genesis 1:31
    Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.
    Genesis 1:30-31 (in Context) Genesis 1 (Whole Chapter)
  10. Genesis 2:2
    And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
    Genesis 2:1-3 (in Context) Genesis 2 (Whole Chapter)
  11. Genesis 2:3
    Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.
    Genesis 2:2-4 (in Context) Genesis 2 (Whole Chapter)

If you are a Christian and you believe this, there is nothing to be ashamed of because we have been indoctrinated in our education system to believe that it has to be true because it is scientific fact without any conflicting truths. When our children grow up learning  “million of years” as factual truth with no other scientific theory or factual data to oppose that theory, our kids begin having doubts when confronted about the truth and validity of the Bible. We can’t defend our faith without information and education so this is why it is soooooooo important and this is why AIG Ministry was founded.

Creationists and evolutionists have the same evidence; they just interpret it within a different framework. Evolution denies the role of God in the universe, and creation accepts His eyewitness account—the Bible—as the foundation for arriving at a correct understanding of the universe. The truth of God’s Word is actually supported by science and not contradicted by it because the Bible is more than a mere source of knowledge; it is the history book of the universe.

I will end here for tonight but I went onto the www.answersingenisis.com site and found this list. Obviously scientific evidence DOES NOT PROVE the theory of evolution and an old earth. Actually if this stimulates you to research and study further you will see that there are many unanswered questions of “millions of years” vs. the biblical account of how and when the earth began. Like I said earlier, if one begins with the notion that it is impossible for a God to create things that we cannot prove therefore it cannot be true we come to the conclusion that we must hypothesize without the possibility of an all-powerful creator.
